The present invention relates to a method for the remote maintenance of telecommunications units (BSC, RBS1) in a telecommunications system (TS) comprising a service port (WROG, IWROG). The service port (WROG, IWROG) can communicate both with the telecommunications units (BSC, RBS1) and with an O & M terminal (OMT1, OMT2). The method comprises the following steps: an O & M terminal (OMT1, OMT2) is connected to the telecommunications system; a connection is established between the O & M terminal (OMT1, OMT2) and the service port (WROG, IWROG) in accordance with a first signalling protocol (SP1) specified between the terminal (OMT1, OMT2) and the port (WROG, IWROG); the telecommunications unit (BSC, RBS1) for which maintenance is desired is selected; a connection is established between the service port (WROG, IWROG) and the selected telecommunications unit (RBS1, BSC) in accordance with a second signalling protocol (SP2) specified between the port (WROG, IWROG) and the telecommunications unit (RBS1, BSC); service parameters are exchanged between the O & M terminal (OMT1, OMT2) and the selected telecommunications unit (RBS1, BSC), conversion between the two signalling protocols (SP1, SP2) taking place in the service port (WROG, IWROG).

L'invention concerne un procédé de maintenance à distance d'unités de télécommunications (BSC, RBS1) d'un système de télécommunications (TS) comprenant un port de service (WROG, IWROG). Le port de service (WROG, IWROG) peut communiquer avec les unités de télécommunications (BSC, RBS1) et avec le terminal O & M (OMT1, OMT2). Le procédé consiste à - relier un terminal O & M (OMT1, OMT2) au système de télécommunications; - établir une communication entre le terminal O & M (OMT1, OMT2) et le port de service (WROG, IWROG) conformément à un premier protocole de signalisation (SP1) spécifié entre le terminal O & M (OMT1, OMT2) et le port de service (WROG, IWROG); - sélectionner l'unité de télécommunications (BSC, RBS1) pour laquelle la maintenance est souhaitée; - établir une communication entre le port de service (WROG, IWROG) et l'unité de télécommunications sélectionnée (RBS1, BSC) conformément à un deuxième protocole de signalisation (SP2) spécifié entre le port de service (WROG, IWROG) et l'unité de télécommunications (RBS1, BSC); - échanger les paramètres de service entre le terminal O & M (OMT1, OMT2) et l'unité de télécommunications (RBS1, BSC) sélectionnée. La conversion entre les deux protocoles de signalisation (SP1, SP2) a lieu dans le port de service (WROG, IWROG).
