This invention is a tool which is used for marking a line on an object that has to perfectly line up to an adjacent object. In this case this tool is being used in the security alarm installation trade and is being used to perfectly line up a recessed door contact and magnet. For example when a recessed door contact is installed, a 3/8" hole is drilled into the door frame for the contact to seat in, a 3/8" hole also has to be drilled into the door so that the magnet can be installed, this is a very hard task to accomplish since you cannot see where you have to mark and drill the hole because to line them up you would have to close the door. What this invention does is that it allows you to scribe the door even when it is closed and much more accureatly since it marks the line directly in front of the 3/8" hole that was drilled into the door frame. This is how the invention works: Once the 3/8" hole is drilled into the door frame, insert the barrel of the tool which is labelled D in figure 1. The barrel of the tool must be inserted all the way in until the base of the tool which is labelled C in figure 1 lays perfectly flat with the door frame. Then the door must be closed, and the shaft of the tool which is labelled B in figure 1 must be rotated one half of a turn (180 degrees). Once this step has been completed, the door will have a vertical line scribed on it by the tool. The line on the door was scribed by the scriber which is labelled A in figure 1. The scriber which is labelled as A in figure 1 is an extension of the shaft which is labelled as B in figure 1, it is just bent at a 90 degree angle, hardened and sharpened. This method of marking the door is much more accurate then other methods. It is also less time consuming, other methods of installing these recessed door contacts was just to "eyeball" the area that had to be drilled.
