Compounds and methods are provided for diagnosing Trypanosoma cruzi infection. The disclosed compounds are polypeptides, or antibodies thereto, that contain one or more epitopes of T. cruzi antigens. The compounds are useful in a variety of immunoassays for detecting T. cruzi infection. The polypeptide compounds are further useful in vaccines and pharmaceutical compositions for inducing protective immunity against Chagas' disease in individuals exposed to T. cruzi.

L'invention concerne des composés et des méthodes permettant de diagnostiquer une infection par Trypanosoma cruzi. Les composés de l'invention sont des polypeptides, ou leurs anticorps, qui contiennent au moins un épitope d'antigènes de T. cruzi. Les composés peuvent être utilisés dans divers dosages immunologiques destinés à détecter une infection par T. cruzi. Les composés polypeptidiques peuvent également être utilisés dans des vaccins ainsi que des compositions pharmaceutiques pour l'induction d'une immunité contre la maladie de Chagas chez des personnes exposées à T. cruzi.
