An unexpanded perlite ore polishing composition is shown. The composition comprises base material having grains of unexpanded perlite ore of a selected distribution of particle sizes which undergo fracturing of the grains as a function of anabrasive force applied to the base material. The selected distribution of particle sizes includes a significant volume of grains of unexpanded perlite ore having a (d90) particle size in a range of about 101 to about 229 ~m. The base material is responsive to an abrasive force being applied thereto during polishing resulting in continued fracturing of the grains of unexpanded perlite ore to yield a final polishing composition having a sufficiently low level of abrasiveness under said abrasive force making it suitable for use in polishing. Compostions for polishing acrylic dentures and CRT tube surfaces using the unexpanded perlite ore polishing composition and methods for polishing the same are also shown.

L'invention concerne une composition de polissage de minerai de perlite non dilatée. La composition comprend un matériau de base contenant des grains de minerai de perlite non dilatée d'une distribution sélectionnée de dimensions de particules soumises à une fracturation des grains en fonction d'une force abrasive appliquée sur le matériau de base. La distribution sélectionnée de dimensions de particules comprend un volume significatif de grains de minerai de perlite non dilatée présentant une dimension de particule de (d¿90?) d'environ 101 à environ 229 ?m. Le matériau de base est sensible à la force abrasive appliquée sur celui-ci au cours du polissage, résultant en une fracturation continue des grains de minerai de perlite non dilatée, de manière à obtenir une composition de polissage finale présentant un niveau suffisamment faible d'abrasion sous ladite force abrasive permettant d'utiliser celle-ci dans les opérations de polissage. L'invention concerne des compositions de polissage de dentures acryliques et de surfaces de tubes cathodiques dans lesquelles sont utilisées la composition de minerai de perlite non dilatée, ainsi que des procédés de polissage de celles-ci.
