A method of introducing boron as a boron ester into timber via a non-aqueous liquid medium. The borate ester may have the formula I: (RO)3B where Rl may be a C3-C20 alkyl or alkenyl group, R2 may be a C3-C20 alkyl or alkenyl group and R3 may be a C3- C20 alkyl or alkenyl group. The R2 and R3 groups may form of a four or five membered ring structures with diols o aminoalcohols to give completely substituted monomeric borates.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'introduire du bore sous forme d'un ester de bore dans du bois au moyen d'un milieu liquide non aqueux. L'ester de borate peut être représenté par la formule I : (RO)3B, dans laquelle Rl peut représenter un groupe alcényle ou alkyle C3-C20, R2 peut représenter un groupe alcényle ou alkyle C3-C20 et R3 peut représenter un groupe alcényle ou alkyle C3- C20. Les groupes R2 et R3 peuvent former un des structures de noyau à quatre ou cinq éléments comprenant des diols ou des aminoalcools afin d'obtenir des borates monomères complètement substitués.
