In particular, these sources are gamma-glutamyltyrosine (.gamma.-GluTyr), gamma-glutamylcysteine derivatives (.gamma.-GluCys) and gamma-glutamylglutamine (.gamma.-GluGln). This invention provides TPN formulations, and methods of formulating and using such solutions containing .gamma.-GluTyr, .gamma.-GluCys and/or .gamma.-GluGln to provide adequate nutritional levels of tyrosine, cysteine or glutamine during TPN.
