A method and system are disclosed for detecting objects of interest in a target area using ultra wide band (UWB) RF signals. A transmitter and antenna array generate ultra wide band RF impulsive signals that are used to probe a target area that may include an object of interest. An antenna and a signal processor receive return signals from the target area and process the return signal to generate a set of coordinates. The coordinates of the processed return signals are compared to coordinates of known objects in a pre-existing database to determine whether there is a match between the return signal and a known object. When there is an indication of a match, the existence of the known object is displayed to an operator of the system.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système destinés à détecter des objets d'intérêt dans une zone cible au moyen de signaux RF à bande ultra large UWB. Un émetteur et un réseau d'antenne génèrent des signaux impulsifs RF à bande ultra large qui sont utilisés afin de sonder une zone cible pouvant comprendre un objet d'intérêt. Une antenne et un processeur de signaux reçoivent des signaux de retour à partir de la zone cible et traitent les signaux de retour afin de générer un ensemble de coordonnées. Ces coordonnées de signaux de retour traités sont comparées aux coordonnées des objets connus dans une base de données préexistante afin de déterminer si elles coïncident entre elles. Lorsqu'apparaît une indication de correspondance, l'existence de l'objet connu est affichée à un opérateur du système.
