2114725 9303581 PCTABS00020 Described is a messaging system for use with truly non-blocking networks. It is adapted for use with single stage crossbars or multistage truly non-blocking networks of various configurations. The invention is a self-routing design which uses both the message destination address and an associated turn signal. For returning blocked messages, a return (or source) address is sent with the message and it, too, has an associated return signal. The switches themselves in the network either turn or not depending on whether there is a match with the appropriate address and turn signal.
