A replaceable safety razor cartridge is mountable to a handle for pivotal movement relative thereto about a pivot axis. The cartridge has a guard at the front of the housing thereof and a lubricating strip at the rear of the housing, with three blades being carried by the housing between the guard and the lubricating strip. The user's beard is sequentially engaged by the guard, the blades and the lubricating strip during shaving. The pivot axis is in front of the blades and below a plane that is tangent to the guard and the lubricating strip.
