Disclosed are a method of producing p-hydroxyphenylalkanol of formula (I) : (see formula I) wherein R1 and R 2 independently represent hydrogen, an alkyl or a phenyl which may be substituted with an alkyl, or the like, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R' independently represent hydrogen, an alkyl or the like and n denotes an integer from 0 to 7, the method being characterized in that a phenol compound of formula (II): (see formula II) wherein R1 and R2 respectively represent the aforementioned meaning, is reacted with an unsaturated alcohol of formula (III): R3R4C=C(R5) -C(R6) (R7) - (CH2)n-OH (III) wherein R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and n respectively represent the same as defined above, in the presence of (A) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of alkali metals, alkali metal compounds, alkaline earth metals and alkaline earth metal compounds and (B) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of transition metals and transition metal compounds, and the like.

On révèle une méthode de synthèse de p-hydroxyphénylalcanol de la formule (I) : (voir formule I) où R1 et R2 représentent indépendamment l'hydrogène, un alkyle ou un phényl qui peuvent être remplacés par un alkyle ou un composé similaire; R3, R4, R5, R6 et R' représentent indépendamment l'hydrogène, un alkyle ou un composé similaire; et n désigne un nombre entier entre 0 et 7, la méthode étant caractérisée par le fait qu'un composé phénolé de la formule (II) : (voir formule II) où R1 et R2 représentent respectivement les composés mentionnés ci-dessus que l'on fait réagir avec un alcool insaturé de la formule (III) : R3R4C=C(R5) -C(R6) (R7) - (CH2)n- OH (III) où R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 et n représentent respectivement ce qui est défini ci-dessus, en la présence de (A), au moins un composé choisi parmi le groupe comprenant des métaux alcalins, des composés de métaux alcalins, des métaux alcalino-terreux et des composés de métaux alcalino-terreux et (B), au moins un composé choisi parmi le groupe comprenant des métaux de transition, des composés de métaux de transition et des composés similaires.
