An elongate, rectangular box (16, 60, 80) and method for packaging containers (C), wherein the box can be cross-stacked for stable stacking of the boxes, and optimizes utilization of pallet space. Containers (C) are placed in the box in diagonally offset relationship to one another in a parallelogram-shaped arrangement, and interior corner inserts (14,15, 61,62, 81,82) are placed in the boxes to form diagonal interior corner panels extending across two diagonally opposite corners of the box, defining an interior box shape closely conforming to the parallelogram-shaped arrangement of the containers. The inserts also define structure that supports one box on top of one another when the boxes are stacked. The box is especially suited for packaging four one- gallon containers.
L'invention concerne une boîte (16, 60, 80) rectangulaire allongée et un procédé d'emballage de contenants (C), cette boîte pouvant être empilée selon une configuration croisée afin d'assurer un empilage stable, et d'optimiser l'utilisation de l'espace sur une palette. Les contenants (C) sont placés dans cette boîtes dans une position mutuellement décalée, selon une configuration en parallélogramme, et des éléments (14,15, 61,62, 81,82) de renfort d'angles internes sont placés dans les boîtes de manière à former des panneaux d'angles diagonaux couvrant deux angles opposés de la boîte, et à définir des contours internes se conformant étroitement à la disposition en parallélogramme des contenants. Les éléments de renfort définissent en outre une structure permettant de soutenir une boîte posée sur une autre, lorsque les boîtes sont empilées.
