A system and method for delivering controlled electrical power, and more specifically, a system and method for providing a continuous, reliable and inexpensive supply of utility and emergency power to a cable network for use by a plurality of active components in the network. The system comprises a first voltage regulating means having an input side connected to the power source and an output voltage side connected to a second voltage regulating means disposed proximate to the active components in the network. The first voltage regulating means is capable of regulating a source voltage to an intermediate voltage. The second voltage regulating means has an input side for receiving power at the intermediate voltage from the first voltage regulating means and an output side connected to the active components in the network. The output side of the second voltage regulating means supplies a predetermined voltage for operation of the active components in the network. At least one dedicated cable for connecting the first voltage regulating means to the second voltage regulating means is provided.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé destinés à la distribution d'énergie électrique et, plus précisément, un système et un procédé permettant de fournir une quantité d'énergie utilitaire et de secours continue, fiable et économique, à un réseau de câbles, pour qu'elle soit utilisée par une pluralité de composants actifs du réseau. Le système comprend un premier régulateur de tension (100) comportant une entrée reliée à la source d'énergie et une sortie reliée à un second régulateur de tension (27) situé à proximité desdits composants actifs dudit réseau. Le premier régulateur de tension (100) est capable de réguler une tension source de manière à fournir une tension intermédiaire. Le second régulateur de tension (27) comporte une entrée destinée à recevoir l'énergie à la tension intermédiaire, transmise par le premier régulateur de tension (100), ainsi qu'une sortie reliée aux composants actifs du réseau. La sortie du second régulateur de tension (27) fournit la tension prédéterminée pour faire fonctionner les composants actifs du réseau. Le système comprend également au moins un câble spécialisé (23) permettant de relier le premier régulateur de tension (100) au second régulateur de tension (27).
