The invention relates to a process for concentrating fullerenes having more than 70 carbon atoms, which comprises a) applying a benzene or toluene solution of a crude fullerene extract to a chromatographic separation column charged with coke, anthracite and/or graphite as support material and subsequently b) desorbing from the separation column the fullerenes having more than 70 carbon atoms which are absorbed on the separation column using a polyalkylated and/or monohalogenated or polyhalogenated aromatic eluant.
