An aqueous coating composition comprising, as main components, (A) an aqueous dispersion of a water- dispersible acrylic copolymer of 20-150 in acid value having hydroxyl group optionally, which copolymer is obtained by copolymerizing an alkoxysilane group-con- taining vinyl monomer with a carboxyl group-containing unsaturated monomer and, as necessary, other poly- merizable monomer copolymerizable with said monomers, (B) an aqueous polyurethane resin, and op- tionally (C) a polyisocyanate compound. With this composition, there can be formed, on a sub- strate, a coating film which is excellent in water resistance and solvent resistance and which is good in adhesivity, finish of film, etc.
