A secure radio personal communication system and method includes a base station which relays cellular verification signals between a wide area cellular network and a cellular terminal via the wire telephone network. Thus, cellular telephone calls which are routed to a cellular terminal via a base station, when the cellular terminal is within a local region covered by the base station, may be exchanged between the cellular network and cellular terminal over the wire telephone network. Calls from the wide area cellular network which are routed through the base station can thus employ the same authorisation systems and methods which are employed by the wide area cellular network. Signals between the base station and the cellular terminal are preferably exchanged when the cellular terminal is parked in the base station. Verification and encryption signals may be exchanged. The same signals may be used for enhanced security when the base station is relaying wire network calls to the cellular terminal when the cellular terminal is in the local region. Alternatively, separate verification and encryption protocols may be used.
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un système de communication radiotéléphonique personnelle, protégée, qui comprend une station de base (110) qui transmet des signaux de vérification cellulaire entre un réseau cellulaire à surface étendue et un terminal cellulaire (120) par l'intermédiaire du réseau téléphonique à fil (108). Ainsi, des appels téléphoniques cellulaires qui sont acheminés vers un terminal cellulaire par l'intermédiaire d'une station de base, lorsque le terminal cellulaire se trouve dans une région locale couverte par la station de base, peuvent être échangés entre le réseau cellulaire et le terminal cellulaire sur le réseau téléphonique à fil. Des appels provenant du réseau celluaire à surface étendue qui sont acheminés par la station de base peuvent ainsi avoir recours aux mêmes systèmes d'autorisation et aux procédés qui sont utilisés par le réseau cellulaire à surface étendue. Les signaux entre la station de base et le terminal cellulaire sont de préférence échangés lorsque le terminal cellulaire est mis en garde dans la station de base. Des signaux de vérification et de codage peuvent être échangés. Les mêmes signaux peuvent être utilisés en vue d'améliorer la sécurité lorsque la station de base transmet des appels du réseau à fil à la borne cellulaire lorsque cette dernière se trouve dans la région locale. Selon une autre variante, des protocoles séparés de vérification et de codage peuvent être utilisés.
