The invention concerns a method consisting in the following steps: The waste gas (6) is catalytically (1) hydrolyzed to form a hydrolyzed gas (15) containing H2S and SO2, and free of COS and CS2. After cooling (17), the hydrolyzed gas is introduced in one (2a) of two CLAUS catalytic zones (2a, 2b) mounted parallel, the other catalytic zone (2b) being for regenerating, then cooling. The regeneration is carried out, in open circuit, with a gas stream (19, 36) drawn from the gas (15) before it is cooled (17), the regeneration gas effluent (24b) being re-injected (29, 20) into the gas (15), between drawing (19) and cooling (17). The cooling of the reactor (2b) is carried out, in open circuit, with a gas stream (11, 36) drawn from the waste gas (6), the cooling gas effluent (24b) being re-introduced (29, 13) into the waste gas (6) between drawing (11) and heating (8).

Le gaz résiduaire (6) est hydrolisé catalytiquement (1), pour former un gaz hydrolysé (15) renfermant H2S et SO2 et exempt de COS et CS2. Après refroidissement (17), le gaz hydrolysé est introduit dans l'une (2a) de deux zones catalytiques CLAUS (2a, 2b) montées en parallèle, l'autre zone catalytique (2b) étant en régénération, puis refroidissement. La régénération est réalisée, en circuit ouvert, avec un courant gazeux (19, 36) prélevé sur le gaz (15) avant son refroidissement (17), l'effluent gazeux (24b) de la régénération étant réinjecté (29, 20) dans le gaz (15), entre le prélèvement (19) et le refroidissement (17). Le refroidissement du réacteur (2b) est effectué, en circuit ouvert, avec un courant gazeux (11, 36) prélevé sur le gaz résiduaire (6), l'effluent gazeux (24b) du refroidissement étant réintroduit (29, 13) dans le gaz résiduaire (6) entre le prélèvement (11) est le réchauffage (8).
