The present invention is directed to a hydroentangled nonwoven fabric with improved flame retardant properties and the making thereof, whereby the nonwoven fabric is differentially entangled to collapse upon itself and self- extinguish upon burning. The self-extinguishing fabric further exhibits favorable tactile and ductile softness while obtaining sufficient physical strength.

L'invention concerne un non tissé dont les enchevêtrements ont été effectués par procédé hydraulique et possédant des propriétés améliorées d'extinction, ainsi que sa fabrication. Ce non tissé présente des enchevêtrements différents, de façon à s'affaisser sur lui-même et à s'éteindre automatiquement lorsqu'il est soumis à une combustion. Ce non tissé ignifuge présente, de plus, une douceur tactile et ductile, tout en étant caractérisé par une résistance physique suffisante.
