The invention relates to a process for the enzymatic acylation of primary and secondary alcohols with enol esters, in particular alkoxyvinyl acetates, in organic media, in which the enol ester is cleaved into a single ester which is formed after enolization and an acyl radical; the latter is transferred to the alcohol in the solution, the transfer proceding enantioselectively in racemic or prochiral alcohols, i.e. selective acylation only of the one enantiomer or pro-enantiomer takes place, leaving behind the free alcohol of the other enantiomer or pro-enantiomer. The chiral acylated compounds and unreacted chiral alcohols can be separated from one another in a simple manner. The corresponding free alcohols can, if desired, be obtained from the acylated alcohols by simple ester cleavage.
