The present invention provides a method for manufacturing 3,4-dihydroxy-3-cyclobutene-1,2-dione represented by the following general formula (III) (usual name: "squaric acid") through the following reaction processes 1 - 4, using a vinyl ether represented by the following general formula (V) and a halogenoacetyl halide represented by the following general formula (VI) as starting materials. (see formula V, VI, IV, I, II, III) [wherein, R1 represents an alkyl group; and R2, R3, R4, and X are the same or different and each represents halogen]

L'invention porte sur un procédé de production de 3,4-dihydroxy-3- cyclobutène-1,2-dione (l'acide squarique) de formule générale (III) à partir d'un éther vinylique de formule générale (V) et d'un halogénure d'alogénacétyle de formule générale (VI) comprenant les étapes de réaction 1 à 4 suivantes où R<1> représente alkyle; et R<2>, R<3>, R<4> et X représentent le même ou différents atomes d'halogène.
