The invention provides limescale-removing compositions of pH 1-4, comprising maleic acid, a nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, a perfume and an alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acid (preferably citric acid). It is believed that the combination of alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acid with maleic acid is less toxic and less prone to decomposition than an equivalent amount of maleic acid, i.e. an amount which provides comparable limescale-removing performance. However, it is also believed that the alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acid interacts with the nonionic surfactant to destabilise the product in the absence of the anionic surfactant. Thus, there is believed to a synergistic interaction between the components which provides a stable and effective composition containing the alpha-hydroxy fatty acid as a partial replacer for the maleic acid
L'invention se rapporte à des compositions d'un pH compris entre 1 et 4, permettant d'enlever des dépôts calcaires et comprenant de l'acide maléique, un agent tensioactif non ionique, un agent tensioactif anionique, un parfum et un acide alpha-hydroxy carboxylique (de préférence l'acide citrique). On pense que la combinaison acide alpha-hydroxy carboxylique et acide maléique est moins toxique et moins apte à se décomposer qu'une quantité équivalente d'acide maléique, en d'autres termes, une quantité présentant une aptitude comparable à enlever les dépôts calcaires. Cependant, l'on pense également que l'acide alpha-hydroxy carboxylique interagit avec l'agent tensioactif non ionique pour déstabiliser le produit en l'absence de l'agent tensioactif anionique. L'on suppose en conséquence qu'il se produit une interaction synergique entre les constituants, qui permet d'obtenir une composition stable et efficace contenant l'acide alpha-hydroxy carboxylique comme constituant remplaçant partiellement l'acide maléique.
