ABSTRACT An apparatus I call the "Sport-Trailer" is a metal frame which attaches vertically behind the rear of a vehicle ( car, van, or truck ) to carry equip- ment such as skis or bicycles. It consists of a square tubular metal tongue ( that slides in and fastens to a square tubular receptacle fixed to the rear frame or bumper ) with a vertical frame approximately 3 feet by 3 feet in dimension, welded to that tongue. The frame consists of a strong horizontal member centrally welded across the end of the metal tongue. Vertical posts are attached to each end of the horizontal bar, and cross members join the vertical posts at the top and half way down. One vertical post can be hinged to allow the frame to swing away from the vehicle for ease of loading the frame and vehicle. Ski rack, bicycle attachments or other carrying devices are then fastened to the cross members for carrying equipment. This Sports rack allows vehicles to carry skis etc. on the rear in a secure manner. It is easier to load than a roof rack especially on a high Van, and provides a safe strong carrier to reduce the practice of having sporting gear loose inside vehicles.
