There is provided a process and associated apparatus for separating and recuperating objects from a mixture sent to a refuse container. The mixture is conveyed at a predetermined speed toward a refuse container according to a mixture discarding mode, and upon object detection the apparatus changes from a mixture discarding mode configuration to an object containing mixture recuperation mode configuration until no more object is being detected. The conveyor is then returned to its mixture discarding configuration. The recuperation mode configuration may comprise diverting a conveyor toward a recuperation container.
