The invention features cardiac cell-specific enhancer elements derived from Csx/Nkx2.5 regulatory regions. These enhancer elements are useful, for example, for (i) regulating gene expression in cardiac cells, (ii) inducing stem cells (e.g., embryonic stem cells or bone marrow stem cells) to differentiate as cardiomyocytes, and (iii) identifying factors that induce the differentiation of stem cells as cardiomyocytes.

L'invention concerne des éléments activateurs spécifiques aux cellules cardiaques, dérivés des régions régulatoires Csx/Nkx2.5. Ces éléments activateurs sont utilisés, par exemple, pour (i) réguler l'expression des gènes dans les cellules cardiaques, (ii) pour induire des cellules souches (par exemple des cellules souches embryonnaires ou des cellules souches de moelle osseuse) à se différencier comme cardiomyocytes, et (iii) pour identifier les facteurs induisant la différentiation des cellules souches comme cardiomyocytes.
