Embolic protection filtering devices and methods for making and using the same. An example filtering device includes a filter wire and a filter coupled to the filter wire. The filter can include a filter loop (16) and a filter membrane (22) coupled to the filter loop. A plurality of tubular members (32) may be coupled to the filter membrane. This allows a filter retaining shaft (34) to extend through tubular member (32) that holds filter (16) in the collapsed configuration.
