A method and apparatus for supervising a dedicated control channel when in the discontinuous transmission mode. The mobile station (4) monitors the frames it receives from a base station (2) and maintains a counter of bad, good, and empty frames, referred to as COUNT1, COUNT2, COUNT3, respectively. If a received frame is a good frame, COUNT1 is reset to zero and COUNT2 is incremented. If the received frame is a bad frame, COUNT1 is incremented and COUNT2 is reset to zero. If the received frame is an empty frame, COUNT1 and COUNT2 are unchanged but COUNT3 is incremented. A transmitter coupled to the mobile station is enabled or disabled depending upon which, if any, of the COUNTs reaches or exceeds a designated threshold value.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de surveiller un canal de commande spécialisé lorsqu'il est en mode de transmission discontinu. La station mobile (4) vérifie les trames qu'elle reçoit d'une station de base (2) et tient un compte des trames mauvaises, bonnes et vides, soit COMPTE 1, COMPTE 2 et COMPTE 3, respectivement. Si une trame reçu est bonne, le COMPTE 1 est remis à zéro et le COMPTE 2 est incrémenté. Si la trame reçue est mauvaise, le COMPTE 1 est incrémenté et le COMPTE 2 remis à zéro. Si la trame reçue est vide, les comptes 1 et 2 ne changent pas et le COMPTE 3 est incrémenté. Un émetteur, couplé à la station mobile, est activé ou désactivé selon que l'un ou l'autre des comptes atteint ou dépasse une valeur seuil établie.
