ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for packing off a vapour-tight cable-and-float connection to a volatile fluid-containing tank in which vapour under moderate pressure is generated. A closed-end packoff chamber is provided, through which the float cable passes, the chamber containing solid end packings and a volume of viscous grease between the solid packings to seal off tank vapour within a closed cable assembly connected to the packoff apparatus.
