The present invention relates generally to configuration of routers in a communication WAN and more particularly with the problems of substantial work with manual configuration of routers in a WAN and the need for automation of the configuration process. A new node is added to an existing router within an Intranetwork. The node is to be configured to act like a router. A physical connection and a Point to Point link are established between the existing router and the new node. A routing protocol is started to make it possible for the new node to send and retrieve IP traffic. The new node finds automatically the essential resources to receive configuration information. By means of the configuration information, the new node is automatically configured.
La présente invention concerne généralement la configuration de routeurs dans un réseau étendu de communication (RE), et plus particulièrement les problèmes de travail substantiel lié à la configuration manuelle des routeurs dans un RE et la nécessité d'automatiser le procédé de configuration. Un nouveau noeud est ajouté au routeur existant à l'intérieur d'un intraréseau. Le noeud doit être configuré pour fonctionner comme un routeur. Une connexion physique et un lien point à point sont établis entre le routeur existant et le nouveau noeud. Un protocole de routage est lancé pour permettre au nouveau noeud d'envoyer et d'extraire le trafic avec IP. Le nouveau noeud trouve automatiquement les ressources essentielles pour recevoir des informations de configuration. A l'aide de celles-ci, le nouveau noeud est automatiquement configuré.
