ABSTRACT An internal combustion articulating plate rotary engine is herein provided. This rotary engine consists of a set of alternately rotating plates which provide alternate rotation to a set of ratchet disks. The ratchet disks each drive one side of the differential gear assembly which controls the output shaft, and thereby provide and maintain constant power and rotation to the output shaft. Fuel injection and air intake occur in chambers defined by the rotating plates. A lock down pawl mechanism allows two simultaneous explosions to occur, helps the compression, and defines a fixed reference point needed for widely varying speeds and loads. Compression is further enhanced by the feedback of inertia from the output shaft to the plate ending its power stroke and beginning compression. The lock down pawl mechanism helps to fix a point where fuel injection, compression, and combustion all coincide. An anti-reverse mechanism prevents the plate at the end of its power stroke from rotating clockwise during explosion as well as the next power stroke.
