A system of musical notation comprises a series of two distinguishable lines, typically lighter and darker lines, making up a staff. The darker lines represent the black keys on a keyboard, and the lighter lines represent the spaces between the white keys where no black key is present. The lines are presented in the same order as a keyboard to graphically represent a keyboard. White key strokes are indicated by a note on the space between lines, and black key strokes are indicated by notes on the darker lines. Ledger lines above and below the staff repeat the same line series as in the staff.
