There is provided an osteoporosis diagnosis support device using a panorama X- ray image. A digitized image of panorama X-ray photo is input to a personal computer (S210). On the panorama X-ray photo, a lower jaw bone molar portion lower edge cortical bone is specified by a mouse so as to be observed (S220). The extracted image is subjected to the image processing as follows. (1) A median filter is applied to the image and noise is reduced as much as possible. (2) A skeleton by the fine structure elements is obtained (S230). (3) Only a component parallel to the inclination of the lower jaw bone lower edge is extracted (S240). (4) The image is digitized by using, for example, a linear judgment method by Mr.Otsu (S250). After this, the digitized lines are classified into three groups according to the size and the group of the smallest lines is excluded. If there is more than one line of the largest group, it is judged that there is a suspicion of osteoporosis (S260).

L'invention porte sur un dispositif de support pour le diagnostic de l'ostéoporose utilisant une image à rayons X panoramique. Une image numérisée d'une photo à rayons X panoramique est introduite dans un ordinateur personnel (S210). Sur la photo à rayons X panoramique, on détermine, à l'aide d'une souris, la corticale du bord inférieur d'une partie molaire de l'os à mâchoire inférieure de façon à pouvoir l'examiner (S220). L'image extraite est soumise à un traitement comme suit : (1) on applique un filtre médian sur l'image et on réduit autant que possible le bruit. (2) On obtient un squelette avec des éléments de structure fine (S230). (3) On extrait uniquement une composante parallèle à l'inclinaison du bord inférieur de l'os à mâchoire inférieure (S240). (4) On numérise l'image au moyen, par exemple, d'un procédé d'évaluation linéaire selon Mr. Otsu (S250). Après ce traitement, on classe les images numérisées en trois groupes selon leur taille et on exclut le groupe des plus petites lignes. S'il y a plus d'une ligne du plus grand groupe, on peut estimer qu'il y a suspicion d'ostéoporose (S260).
