A microprocessor controlled apparatus and method for processing sheet material into building panels (P) for assembly into buildings. The sheet material is formed into a panel (P) having a flat bottom and sides while length of the formed panel is monitored to control the operation of the forming device. The panel is then fed into a curve-forming device (68) which crimps at least a portion of the panel so that it is arched or curved. The curvature of the output panel (Cb) is monitored (74) to control the location of adjustable crimper rollers (70, 72) disposed in the curve-forming device (68) to provide the portion of the panel with an accurate preselected curvature. The length of the curved portion of the panel is monitored (58) when producing panels having both straight and curved portions, and the crimper rollers (70, 72) automatically reset to form portions with a different radius of curvature.
Appareil commandé par microprocesseur et procédé permettant de travailler des matériaux en feuilles pour produire des panneaux de construction (P) destinés à être assemblés pour former des constructions. Le matériau en feuilles est formé sous forme d'un panneau (P) comprenant une partie inférieure plate et des côtés et la longueur du panneau formé est surveillée pour commander le fonctionnement du dispositif de formage. Le panneau est ensuite introduit dans un dispositif de courbure (68) qui ondule au moins une partie du panneau afin qu'il soit cintré ou courbé. La courbure du panneau (Cb) qui sort est surveillée (74) pour commander l'emplacement des cylindres d'ondulation réglables (70, 72) disposés dans le dispositif de courbure (68) afin que la partie du panneau désirée présente la courbure précise présélectionnée. La longueur de la partie courbée du panneau est surveillée (58), lorsqu'on produit des panneaux comportant à la fois des parties droites et courbées et les cylindres d'ondulation (70, 72) sont automatiquement remis à l'état initial pour former des parties ayant un rayon de courbure différent.
