Disclosed are a radiation-curable resin based on a ketone-aldehyde or urea-aldehyde resin and also process for preparing the resin. The radiation-curable resin contains a compound having an unsaturated moiety and a moiety reactive with the ketone-aldehyde or urea-aldehyde resin or is prepared by polymer-analogously reacting the ketone-aldehyde or urea-aldehyde resin with the compound having the unsaturated moiety and the reactive moiety. The radiation- curable resin may be used for forming a coating film on a substrate.
