Present invention is based on the discovery and isolation of the dissatisfaction (DSF) gene and its protein product. An isolated polynucleotide encoding DSF, substantially pure DSF polypeptide, and an antibody that binds to DSF polypeptide are provided. Also provided are: a DNA construct that comprises a disrupted DSF gene which can prevent functional DSF expression, a transgenic insect having a transgene disrupting DSF expression, a method of producing transgenic insect comprising DSF gene, and a method of identifying a compound that affects the activity of a DSF polypeptide.

L'invention se base sur la découverte et l'isolation du gène d'insatisfaction (DSF) et de la protéine associée. L'invention concerne un polypeptide isolé codant pour DSF, un polypeptide DSF sensiblement pur et un anticorps qui se lie à ce polypeptide DSF. L'invention concerne également une construction d'ADN possédant un gène disloqué qui peut empêcher l'expression fonctionnelle du DSF. L'invention concerne en outre un insecte transgénique possédant un transgène disloquant l'expression du DSF, un procédé permettant d'obtenir un insecte transgénique comprenant un DSF ainsi qu'un procédé d'identification d'un composé qui affecte l'activité d'un polypeptide DSF.
