An integrated system for commerical production of a heterologous protein in transgenic plants under conditions of controlled environment agriculture (CEA) is provided. CEA comprises growth of plants under defined environmental conditions, preferably in a greenhouse, to optimize growth of the transgenic plant as well as expression of the gene encoding the heterologous protein. The transgenic plants used in the present invention are transformed with an expression vector comprising a CEA promoter operably linked to a gene encoding the heterologous protein of interest, wherein the CEA promoter is selected to maximize heterologous protein production under the defined environmental conditions of CEA.
L'invention concerne un système intégré permettant la production commerciale d'une protéine hétérologue dans des plantes transgéniques dans des conditions d'agriculture en milieu contrôlé (AMC). L'AMC consiste à faire pousser des plantes dans des conditions d'environnement définies, de préférence en serre, pour optimiser la croissance des plantes transgéniques de même que l'expression du gène codant la protéine hétérologue. Les plantes transgéniques utilisées dans la présente invention sont transformées au moyen d'un vecteur d'expression comprenant un promoteur d'AMC lié de manière opérationnelle à un gène codant la protéine hétérologue en question, ledit promoteur d'AMC étant sélectionné pour maximiser la production de ladite protéine dans les conditions d'AMC définies.
