The present invention is a plenum cable component with excellent fire retardant and aging properties. The plenum cable component is prepared from a polyolefin-based composition, containing an olefinic polymer and a surface treated metal hydroxide. Depending upon the surface treatment, the composition may comprise other components. The present invention is also a method for selecting a composition for preparing the plenum cable component as a separator and a method for preparing a communications cable therefrom.
La présente invention a trait à un composant de câble pour vide technique présentant d'excellentes propriétés ignifuge et de vieillissement. Le composant de câble pour vide technique est préparé à partir d'une composition à base de polyoléfine, contenant un polymère oléfinique et un hydroxyde métallique à surface traitée. En fonction du traitement de surface, la composition peut comporter d'autres constituants. La présente invention a également trait à un procédé pour la sélection d'une composition pour la préparation d'un composant de câble pour vide technique sous la forme d'un séparateur et à un procédé pour la préparation d'un câble de communications à partir de celui-ci.
