A covered food serving pan is provided having a food pan (10) from which a flange (18) with tab retainers (16) extend, and a cover (12) with tabs (14) extending from an edge. The tabs (14) engage the tab retainers (16) and allow the cover to rotate with respect to the food pan and to be retained in the open position. A method for attaching a cover to a food service pan is also taught.
