(E)-Styryl benzylsulfones useful as antiproliferative agents, including, for example, anticancer agents, are provided according to formula I: wherein: R1 is selected from the group consisting of halogen, C1-C6 alkoxy, nitro, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyl, carboxy, acetoxy and dimethylamino (C2-C6 alkoxy); and R2 and R3 are independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkyl, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyl, carboxy, acetoxy, and dimethylamino (C2-C6 alkoxy); provided: R1 may not be halogen when R2 and R3 are both halogen; R2 may not be 2-halogen when R3 is 4-halogen; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; or formula II: whrein: R4 is selected from the group consisting of C1-C6 alkoxy, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyl, carboxy, acetoxy and dimethylamino (C2-C6 alkoxy); R6 is selected from the group consisting of nitro, hydrogen, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyl, carboxy, acetoxy and dimethylamino (C2-C6 alkoxy); and R7 is selected from the group consisting of halogen, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkyl, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyl, carboxy, acetoxy, dimethylamino (C2-C6 alkoxy) and trifluoromethyl; provided R5 and R6 may not be hydrogen in the same compound; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
L'invention concerne des (E)-styryl benzylsulfones de la formule (I), qui sont utiles comme agents inhibiteurs de la prolifération cellulaire (y compris, par exemple, des agents anticancéreux), et des sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables dudit composé. Dans ladite formule (I), R¿1? est sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par halogène, alcoxy C1-C6, nitro, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyle, carboxy, acétoxy et diméthylamino (alcoxy C2-C6); et R¿2? et R¿3? sont sélectionnés, indépendamment, dans le groupe constitué par halogène, alcoxy C1-C6, alkyle C1-C6, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyle, carboxy, acétoxy, et diméthylamino (alcoxy C2-C6); à condition que R¿1? ne soit pas halogène si R¿2? et R¿3? sont tous deux halogène; que R¿2? ne soit pas 2-halogène si R¿3? est 4-halogène. L'invention concerne autrement des (E)-styryl benzylsulfones de la formule (II), ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable dudit composé. Dans ladite formule (II), R¿4? est sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par alcoxy C1-C6, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyle, carboxy, acétoxy et diméthylamino (alcoxy C2-C6); R¿6? est sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par nitro, hydrogène, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyle, carboxy, acétoxy et diméthylamino (alcoxy C2-C6); et R¿7? est sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par halogène, alcoxy C1-C6, alkyle, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, phosphonato, amino, sulfamyle, carboxy, acétoxy, diméthylamino (alcoxy C2-C6) et trifluorométhyle; à condition que R¿5? et R¿6? ne soient pas hydrogène dans le même composé.
