ABSTRACT A tool for use with a baler for cardboard boxes and the like has an elongated body with a handle at one end and a sharp head at the other. The tool is used to wrap cardboard bales formed by the baler with string. While the tool is preferably used to pull the string in either direction through channels along the upper and lower edges of the bale, the tool is strong enough and sharp enough to cut through the cardboard bale when the channels are partially or completely clogged with cardboard. The string can be removably attached to the head so that the string can be attached or removed without having to tie or untie the string each time.
