A relay control for an ion pump used in a FTICR MS. When it is desired to admit new sample gas into the vacuum system, the high voltage that powers the ion pump is removed from the pump electrode by opening the normally closed relay contact. A normally open contact relay contact is then closed to ground the pump electrodes and discharge any stray capacity. The sample valve is opened momentarily to admit new sample gas and after the ions are formed and trapped in the ion cell in the vacuum system the pump is restarted.

Dispositif de commande de relais pour une pompe ionique utilisée dans un spectromètre de masse à résonance cyclotronique des ions basé sur la transformation de Fourier (FTICR). Lorsque l'on veut introduire un nouvel échantillon de gaz dans le système de vide, la haute tension qui excite la pompe ionique est éliminée de l'électrode de pompe par l'ouverture du contact de relais qui est normalement fermé. Un contact de relais normalement ouvert est ensuite fermé pour mettre à la terre l'électrode de pompe et décharger toute capacité parasite. La vanne d'échantillonnage est ouverte momentanément pour admettre un nouvel échantillon de gaz et une fois les ions formés et piégés dans la cellule ionique du système de vide, la pompe est redémarrée.
