ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Tertiary amines may be prepared by reacting an aldehyde, hydro- gen and a nitrogen-containing compound such as ammonia, a primary amine or a secondary amine in the presence of a rhodium- or ruthenium-containing catalyst at temperatures in the range of from about 50° to about 350°C. and a pressure in the range of from about 10 to about 300 atmospheres.
