A guide for use in cutting carpet and a method of joining two portions of cut carpet in edge-to-edge relationship has a base formed as a lower portion (1) and an upper portion (2) interengaged through a longitudinal slideway (6, 10) and presenting an upper ramp surface (3, 11). The upper portion has a longitudinal channel (12) along which a knife blade can pass to cut a carpet portion laid on the ramp (3, 11). The lower portion has a vertical wall (4) vertically below the channel (13) and agasinst which the cut edge of first carpet portion is located to abut during cutting of the second carpet portion on the ramp so that when the guide is removed the two cut edges will fall into edge-to-edge abutment for joining together.
L'invention concerne un guide utilisé pour découper de la moquette, ainsi qu'un procédé de jonction bord à bord de deux parties de moquette coupée, comprenant une base ayant la forme d'une partie inférieure (1) et d'une partie supérieure (2) en engagement réciproque dans une glissière longitudinale (6, 10), et présentant une surface supérieure de rampe (3, 11). La partie supérieure comporte un canal longitudinal (12) le long duquel une lame de couteau peut passer pour couper une partie de moquette posée sur ladite rampe (3, 11). La partie inférieure comporte une paroi verticale (4) située verticalement au-dessous du canal (13) et contre lequel le bord découpé de la première partie de moquette est placé pour se mettre en about, de sorte que lorsque le guide est retiré, les deux bords coupés soient en aboutement bord à bord pour s'unir.
