An improved method for regenerating acetylene hydrogenation catalysts, particularly palladium based catalysts which have been used to remove acetylenic contaminants from ethylene, which method does not require an oxygenation or other pretreatment step, comprises stripping the spent catalyst with hydrogen at 315-400°C and a linear hydrogen-containing gas velocity of at least 15.2 cm/second, to achieve substantially complete regeneration.

Divulgation d'une méthode améliorée pour régénérer des catalyseurs d'hydrogénation de l'acétylène, en particulier des catalyseurs à base de palladium ayant été utilisés pour éliminer les contaminants acétyléniques de l'éthylène. Cette méthode, qui ne nécessite pas d'étape d'oxygénation ni aucun autre prétraitement, comprend le strippage du catalyseur utilisé à l'aide d'hydrogène porté à une température de 315-400 .degrés.C, pour obtenir une régénération presque complète. Le gaz contenant l'hydrogène a une vitesse linéaire d'au moins 15,2 cm/seconde.
