Abstract Internal combustion engine The internal combustion engine, which operates on the rotary principle, is intended to be easy to manufacture, to guarantee absolute leak tightness and to permit a reduction in the toxic proportions in the exhaust gases. Compared with the Wankel engine, it is intended to have smaller dimensions and a smaller mass, to be characterized by a good power behavior and to require a low consumption of fuel. The engine consists of a cylindrical casing (1), which can be closed at both ends, with an axi- symmetrically supported shaft (2), wherein are provided, in the casing (1), three holes (3) arranged symmetrically offset by 120° for the sup- ply of the fuel/air mixture, three holes (4) arranged symmetrically offset by 120° for the installation of the ignition plugs and three holes (5) arranged symmetrically offset by 120° for the removal of the exhaust gases. Two rotor parts (7, 8) forming a rotor (6) with four wedge-shaped chambers (9, 10, 11, 12), whose volume can be varied, are mounted on the shaft (2) within the casing (1), which rotor parts (7, 8) can be put into motion sequentially in one direction
