System and methods for distinguishing a node failure from a link failure are provided. By strengthening the assumption of independent failures, bandwidth sharing among backup tunnels protecting links and nodes of a network is facilitated as well as distributed computation of backup tunnel placement. Thus a backup tunnel overlay network can provide guaranteed bandwidth in the event of a failure.

L'invention concerne un système et des procédés permettant de distinguer un incident de noeud d'un incident de liaison. Grâce au renforcement de l'hypothèse d'incidents indépendants, le partage des largeurs de bande entre des tunnels de secours protégeant les liaisons et les noeuds d'un réseau est facilité, ainsi que le calcul informatisé réparti de la mise en place des tunnels de secours. Ainsi, un réseau superposé à tunnels de secours peut permettre d'obtenir une largeur de bande garantie en cas d'incident.
