In a method and arrangement for providing a reliable location for a communication terminal (A), a first location (L1) is obtained for the terminal by means of a first access mechanism (304. A second location (L2) is also obtained for the terminal by means of a second access mechanism (306), and the obtained first and second locations are then compared. The location of the terminal is validated if the obtained first and second locations are found to be substantially equal. Thereby, a more reliable location of the terminal can be used to support communication services requiring or needing such position information, such as emergency services. The validated location of the terminal can also be used for validating the location of an end point used by the terminal in an access network with fixed end points, or for validating a used positioning mechanism.
L'invention concerne une méthode et un dispositif permettant d'obtenir un emplacement fiable d'un terminal de communication (A), un premier emplacement (L1) du terminal étant obtenu au moyen d'un premier mécanisme d'accès (304). Un second emplacement(L2) du terminal est également obtenu au moyen d'un second mécanisme d'accès (306), et les premier et second emplacements obtenus sont ensuite comparés. L'emplacement du terminal est validé si les premier et second emplacement obtenues sont pour l'essentiel égales. Ainsi, on peut utiliser une emplacement plus fiable du terminal comme base pour des services de communication exigeant ou nécessitant une telle information de position, tels que les services d'urgence. L'emplacement validé du terminal peut également servir à valider l'emplacement d'un système d'extrémité utilisé par le terminal dans un réseau d'accès ayant des systèmes d'extrémité fixes, ou à valider un mécanisme de positionnement en service.
