A method for verifying the integrity of confidential data in electronic device data processing is described herein. The method consists in simultaneously computing a checksum value while the confidential data is being processed. The confidential data is divided in a set of bytes and is processed and verified byte by byte. Example of applications of the method includes data transfer from the EEPROM of a smart card to its RAM and validation of a secret code in such a card.
