A tamper proof shopping bag formed of two plies and having a closed top portion provided with a bag carrying handle, an open bottom portion for inserting objects into the bag and a transverse zone of pressure adhesive carried by the bottom portion of one ply *to be applied to the other ply and close the bag bottom in tamper proof manner. A handle reinforcing strip may be added for heavy loads; this reinforcing strip being located between the two plies across said first and second handle forming holes and across said additional zone, said strip having a third handle forming hole registering with said first and second handle forming holes, said strip heat sealed to said two plies along said first and second handle forming holes and along said additional zone.
