A two part hockey scoring system based on a shooters position in the offensive zone in relation to the hockey goal. It consists of a scaled overhead diagram of the offensive area on a hockey rink divided into 5 individual zones based on angles and distance to the net. These zones are uniquely colored on the diagram. On the ice an improved hockey target apparatus with 6 holes attaches to the hockey net. The 6 distinct holes are outlined by 1-4 colors matching the overhead diagram. The colors outlining the holes match the colors of a particular zone so the player knows the best probability of scoring is to shoot at the zones corresponding targets. This allows progressive training of a hockey players scoring skills including quick release through an understanding of shooting angles based on position in the offensive zone.
