Resin compositions containing polycarbonate, polyarylate or a thermoplastic polyester resin with a silane clay complex. The silane clay complex is prepared by introducing into a swelling silicate a silane compound represented by the following general formula (1): YnSiX4-n, wherein n is an integer of 0 to 3; Y is optionally substituted C1-25 hydrocarbyl; and X is a hydrolyzable group or hydroxy, provided that n Y's and (4-n) X's are the same or different. These resin compositions satisfy at least one of the following conditions: (a) the silane clay complex has an average layer thickness of 500 .ANG. or less; and (b) the [N] value is 30 or more and the average aspect ratio is from 10 to 300. In case of polyester resin compositions, definite conditions on rheological properties represented by e-3, .DELTA.e and Je00 are to be satisfied too.

L'invention porte sur des compositions de résines à base de polycarbonates, polyarylates ou de polyester thermoplastique. Le complexe d'argile de silane s'obtient par introduction dans un silicate expansé d'un composé de silane de formule générale (1) YnSiX4-n dans laquelle: n est un entier de 0 à 3; Y est hydrocarbyle C¿1-25? facultativement substitué; et X est un groupe hydroxylable ou hydroxy sous réserve que n, Y et (4-n) X soient identiques ou différents. Ces compositions de résines doivent satisfaire à au moins l'une des conditions suivantes: (a) le complexe d'argile de silane présente une épaisseur moyenne de couche de 500 .ANG. ou moins; et (b) la valeur [N] est de 30 ou moins tandis que l'allongement moyen est compris entre 10 et 300. Pour les compositions à base de polyesters, les conditions précises suivantes relatives aux propriétés rhéologiques doivent être satisfaites: ?¿e?-3?, .DELTA.?¿e? et J¿e0??¿0?.
