The invention relates to a high-pressure process for producing melamine from urea in which highly pure melamine is obtained by transferring melamine melt leaving a melamine reactor to a cooling vessel where the melamine melt is cooled to a temperature of between 1°C and 30°C above the melting point of melamine after which the liquid melamine can be transferred to a second cooling vessel in which vessel the melamine melt is further cooled using cold ammonia by which solid melamine is obtained.

L'invention concerne un procédé sous haute pression, qui permet de produire de la mélamine à partir d'urée. Selon le procédé, on obtient de la mélamine très pure en transférant un bain de mélamine, après son passage dans un réacteur à mélamine, dans un bac de refroidissement, dans lequel on refroidit ledit bain à une température supérieure de 1 à 30 DEG C environ au point de fusion de la mélamine. Puis on transfère la mélamine liquide dans un second bac de refroidissement, dans lequel on refroidit encore le bain de mélamine à l'aide d'ammoniaque froid, ce qui permet d'obtenir de la mélamine solide.
